Cell C today brings much needed connectivity to one of the most poorly connected areas in the country, Mafikeng, with the rollout of its HSPA+ 900 network.
Mafikeng will be the first city in the North West province to experience Whooosh!™ after years of being considered an underserviced area. “The roll-out of our HSPA+ 900 network in Mafikeng shows Cell C’s commitment to government’s goal of bringing connectivity to areas that have been neglected in the past and our drive to bring broadband to all South Africans,” says Lars P. Reichelt, Cell C CEO.
Over 90% of the schools in the province do not have access to affordable Internet and Cell C wants to change that. As a first step Cell C, in partnership with network partner ZTE, will provide Lapologang High School, Kebonang Secondary School and the Montshioa Town Clinic with access to computing and broadband technologies.

ZTE will kit out Lapologang High School’s computer lab with modems and Cell C will provide free Internet access for a year.
Kebonang Secondary School and the Montshioa Town Clinic will each receive a computer, a printer and access to the Internet for a year.
