Cell C has launched its new high-speed network in the heart of the Limpopo province, following a successful launch in Nelspruit earlier this week. Polokwane residents can now enjoy download speeds averaging 6-9 Mbps – up to three times faster than Cell C’s traditional rivals – whilst also benefiting from world-class cellular network reception.
“Our network in Polokwane will cover 67% of the population as of today, but will be increased to 98% by January 2011,” commented Cell C’s Executive Head of Marketing, Simon Camerer. “As the largest commercial and residential city in the north of the country, Polokwane proved its mettle as a host city during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and we are confident that the presence of world-class IT infrastructure will only add to the attractiveness of the city as an investment and tourist destination.”
As part of its Polokwane launch, Cell C also donated a modem to Bokamoso Senior Secondary School in Seshego to provide the school with faster internet connection. The school will also receive a monthly data bundle and wireless router to allow multiple users connectivity at the same time.
