Road restrictions for the Cell C Tour of South Africa Gauteng(Stage 2)

 The Cell C Tour of South Africa would like to forewarn drivers in the Gauteng and Tshwane areas about traffic congestion and road restrictions that will affect travellers during the Inaugural Tour of South Africa.

Please familiarise yourself with the map of Stage 2 of the event to ascertain the best route to travel prior to leaving home.  The map is accompanied by a detailed road schedule and estimated time frame of when restrictions can be expected.   The details for each stage may be found under the stages section for your convenience.

We are alerting you to the routes early with the intent of causing as little inconvenience as possible in relation to the Cell C Tour of South Africa.
Please note that these are rolling road restrictions and not total road closure, so you will be delayed in bursts of anything from 10 minutes to 45 minutes pending on the routes you choose.

 STAGE 2: MONTECASINO VIA SOWETO TO MONTECASINO

 In accordance with the above map, herewith an approximate timeline of road restrictions to be expected during the Cell C Tour of South Africa for Stage 2.  Please bear in mind that the allocated times are when the peloton (cyclists) will be passing through those specific roads, but set up and removal of cones, back up etcetera will add on at least an extra 10 minutes each way.

Montecasino Amphitheatre Cyclists will gather at the Montecasino Piazza from 09:00 and the race will be live on the big screen.

Roodepoort Area The traffic intersection between Christiaan De Wet and Golf Club Terrace will be affected from approximately 10:25 until 10:40 and a further delay can be expected on Golf Club Terrace from 10:25 till 10:50

Soweto The peloton moves towards Dobsonville road from about 10:40 and will affect traffic between Dobsonville Road and Van Onselen Road for about 10 minutes.  The cyclists move through Soweto along Vincent Road, The Soweto Highway and out of Soweto which will restrict traffic for a further 25 minutes

City of Joburg From Soweto, The Cell C Tour of South Africa moves to the South of the M2 East heading toward the CBD where road restrictions will commence at Mewett / Booysens Streets from 11:15 till 11:40 where they exit the CBD
 

The Sandton Area – entry into the loop Coming from Hyde Park down William Nicol into Sandton Drive, the peloton will move into Rivonia Road toward Witkoppen to the finish and repeat this twice.  Road restrictions will commence on this stretch from 11:35 and will role until the end of the race at approximately 14:00 

First loop Monte down William Nicol into Santon Dr left into Rivonia back towards Witkoppen then to Monte -  Loop 1 road restrictions will commence from 12:00 till 14:00

Loop 2 road restrictions will commence from 12:00 till 14:00 Live coverage on Supersport and supporters can watch on the big screen ant Montecasino on both days.
