Most Android phones are unable to accept Over-The-Air (OTA) settings and need to be set up manually.
If you're unable to make use of our *147# service, you might want to try setting up these parameters by yourself.
Here's how to set up your MMS and GPRS in a few easy steps.
MMS Setup:
Setting up Android for MMS
- On the device, press the Menu key.
- Select Settings > Wireless controls > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
- Press the Menu key and select New APN.
- Select Name, enter Cell C MMS and press OK.
- Select APN, enter mms and press OK.

Enter the user name and password listed below. If no value is listed, leave the field blank.
User name:
Password: - Select MMSC, enter http://mms.cmobile.co.za and press OK.
- Select MMS Proxy, enter 196.31.116.250 and press OK.
- Select MMS Port, enter 8080 and press OK.
- Select APN type, select mms and press OK.
- Press the Menu key and select Save.
GPRS Setup:
Setting up Android for Internet
- On the device, press the Menu key.
- Select Settings > Wireless controls > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
- Press the Menu key and select New APN.
- Select Name, enter Cell C Internet and press OK.
- Select APN, enter internet and press OK.

Enter the user name and password listed below. If no value is listed, leave the field blank.
User name:
Password: - Select APN type, select default and press OK.
- Press the Menu key and select Save.
- Press the radio button next to Cell C Internet to set the profile as default.
- Press the Home key.
- Press the Menu key and select Browser.
- Press the Menu key and select More > Settings > Set home page.
- Enter http://www.cellc.co.za/wap and press OK.
Message Settings:
From the main menu, go to Messages and press Menu key and scroll down to MMS settings ensure that the following are ticked:
- Delivery reports
- Read reports
- Auto-retrieve
