FIXED LTE FAQS
Cell C LTE coverage will be rolled our across the country. There might be areas where there is no LTE coverage. Cell C will continue to upgrade the network in areas where LTE coverage is limited, in due course.
In areas where there is no LTE coverage, your device will automatically connect to the 2G or 3G network. The handover is seamless.
Although most modern devices are LTE compatible, some devices may not be compatible. It is recommended that the latest LTE device list is viewed on the Cell C website to ensure compatibility.
There are no additional costs for LTE. If you have the latest USIM and LTE enabled device, you will experience LTE speeds on your device.
Antennas can be attached to the devices to improve signal strength. It is not always guaranteed that an antenna will improve the signal strength.
Devices that are enabled for Wi-Fi can connect to the Mi-Fi and CPE devices.
This can be viewed by logging onto the routers administration page via a web browser. Further information on this can be found in the setup guide that is accompanied with the router.
Your device will continue to work on 3G speeds. The devices are backward compatible, which means it will work on the available network speed in the area.
LTE is a best effort service, meaning you will receive speeds based on the capacity of the network. During busy periods the network speeds will be reduced.
LTE will be enabled by default on the router, however it is important to verify this via the devices admin console. Details on accessing the admin console can be found in the routers setup guide. The device will either display 4G or LTE.
