What is Wi-Fi Calling?
Wi-Fi Calling lets you make and receive voice calls and send or receive SMSs over Wi-Fi when your handset is connected to a Wi-Fi network.

How do I purchase Wi-Fi Calling?
A Cell C Wi-Fi Calling handset can be purchased at the nearest participating Cell C Store. Cell C agents will assist you in setting up your handset. In addition to the handset, Cell C also offers an unlimited Wi-Fi Calling bundle.
You must have access to a Cell C USIM (Latest SIMs being distributed for new acquisition, upgrades and SIM Swaps).
You must be provisioned for the service by requesting in-store, via customer care on 084 140 or via USSD *147# and select option 4.
How do I enable Wi-Fi? (Home Network, Wi-Fi hotspot, Corporate Network)
To enable Wi-Fi on your handset, select the Wi-Fi network in the Settings menu on your handset.
How do I enable Wi-Fi Calling?
By default, your handset should be enabled for Wi-Fi Calling as soon as you connect to the Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi Calling can be also switched on from the Wi-Fi Calling Settings.
How do I buy a Wi-Fi Calling bundle?
Wi-Fi Calling bundles are available via the Cell C USSD menu, dial *147# and select option 4 or at Cell C stores or via Customer Care by dialling 084 140 from a Cell C handset.
Will calls or SMS over Wi-Fi be charged differently than my cellular calls?
Wi-Fi calls and SMSs will be charged as per the customer's tariff plan rates.
How do I know when I am using Wi-Fi for my calls?
When your handset is connected to a Wi-Fi network, it will automatically try to register with the network for Wi-Fi Calling. Once the registration has successfully completed, you will see the Wi-Fi Calling icon in the status bar on the top of your handset screen. You will also see the Wi-Fi Calling icon displayed in the dialler (in place of your regular calling icon) when making a call.
What happens if I lose Wi-Fi coverage?
Your handset will revert back to the Cellular network, where coverage is available.
Do I have to log into a Wi-Fi network to connect?
Yes, you must connect to a Wi-Fi network for the service to work. Your handset will automatically connect to that same network when in range.
How do I log into a Wi-Fi network on my handset?
Go to Settings and select Wi-Fi. A list of available Wi-Fi networks will appear. Select a trusted network and enter a password to connect. After the first connection, the handset will automatically connect to that same network when in range.
Are Wi-Fi calls comparable in quality to regular cellular calls?
Yes, when the handset is in range of a reliable Wi-Fi network, Wi-Fi calls and cellular calls are similar in quality.
What happens if I am not connected to a Wi-Fi connection?
Your call will be carried over the Cellular network or local operator network when roaming.
Will I be charged for data on Wi-Fi Calling?
Wi-Fi Calling is purely a voice and SMS service. When connected to a Wi-Fi network such as public or private hotspots, data is consumed via the hotspot and not your tariff plan. In the event of a private or public hotspot not being available, you will be charged for data as per your tariff plan rates while in South Africa and roaming rates when abroad.
Can I purchase Cell C voice and data bundles while on Wi-Fi Calling?
Access to the USSD menu is available via Wi-Fi Calling .Cell C customers will be able to purchase bundles via Wi-Fi Calling.
What Should I do if I get an Error on Wi-Fi Calling?
The following error messages can be displayed to the customer.
ERROR-01: We are currently experiencing an issue, if not resolved in 30 minutes, contact Cell C Customer Care on 084 140.
ERROR-02: Unable to Connect, please check your internet connection and check that you have Wi-Fi data access 084 140.
ERROR-03: This Wi-Fi network does not offer Wi-Fi Calling, Contact Cell C Customer Care 084 140.
ERROR-04: We are currently experiencing an issue, if not resolved in 30 minutes, contact Cell C Customer Care 084 140.

The Wi-Fi Calling icon does not appear on my handset screen, what should I do?
If the Wi-Fi Calling icon does not appear on your handset screen, this could be because your handset is not connected to a Wi-Fi network.
The Wi-Fi network has blocked Wi-Fi Calling.
Some networks especially corporate Wi-Fi networks might block the service. Cell C does not have control over this. We have created a section on our website to log such errors, so that we can investigate the issue in detail and provide the relevant feedback.
What happens if I get disconnected from my Wi-Fi network while I am on a call?
In the event of the call being disconnected, you are required to reinitiate the call. The call could disconnect due to a weak Wi-Fi hotspot signal or the Wi-Fi network connection has timed out. An error message will be displayed together with a beeping sound informing the customer that the call has dropped.
What happens when I move away from a Wi-Fi Network?
The Wi-Fi Calling service will disconnect. You will no longer be able to make the call over the Wi-Fi network.
Can I choose my Wi-Fi Calling preferences?
Some Android handsets will allow the customer the options of customising the Wi-Fi Calling preferences as indicated below. These options can be found by selecting the Settings menu and the More icon on your handset. Handsets that don't have the Wi-Fi Calling preference options will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi Calling service provided you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.
How do I know that I am making a Wi-Fi call and not a normal Cell C call?
The dial button on your handset will change to a similar icon as indicated below when successfully connected to a Wi-Fi network. In the event of the dialer not changing to the icon below, your call will be made over the Circuit Switch Network.
Does my bill show that I made a Wi-Fi call? How would this reflect?
Wi-Fi calls will be displayed as Wi-Fi calls on the bill and standard calls will be displayed as it is currently displayed on the bill.
How do I get a Cell C USIM?
Most Cell C SIM'S are USIM'S. If you don't have a USIM, you should visit the latest Cell C store to carry out a SIM swop. A small fee might be charged.
How do I know whether I have a Cell C USIM?
A USIM is usually blue in colour. The SIM will display 128K USIM.
Can I call or sms someone that is not on Wi-Fi Calling?
Yes, calls can be made and received to non Wi-Fi Calling handsets on any network across the globe.
Can I check my balances via Wi-Fi Calling?
All balances are available via USSD on Wi-Fi Calling.
