What are Data bundles?
blackDATA bundles are specific use, on-net, data bundles that will allow Cell C customers to access black content at highly competitive rates.

Who can take advantage of Data bundles?
blackDATA bundles will be available to Cell C customers and XSP customers on the following plans.

  • Connector
  • Pinnacle (Postpaid and TopUp)
  • SmartData (Postpaid and TopUp)
  • All Cell C prepaid plans

How do I get blackDATA bundles?
blackDATA bundles can be purchased:

  • by dialling USSD *147#
  • Cell C Customer Care on 084 140
  • Any Cell C store
  • Via Banks/ATMs
  • Cell C Portal
  • Cell C app

What is the Validity of the blackDATA bundles?

  • All once-off and recurring blackDATA bundles (for Prepaid and TopUp) are valid for 30/90/180 days from the date of purchase.
  • Recurring blackDATA bundles on Postpaid are valid for calendar months. These will then be 1 calendar month / 3 calendar months or 6 calendar months

Is the carry-over of unused blackDATA data?
There is no automatic carry over.

  • In order to carry-over any unused data beyond the validity period, the customer must purchase another blackDATA Bundle before the expiry of the initial bundle validity period.
  • Customers that purchase the recurring Data Bundle will receive automatic carryover of unused data and the data will not expire as long as the recurring bundle is active.
  • The trial data is valid for 7 days from date of successful registration with no rollover.

How do I check my balance?
You can dial *101# or *147# for a detailed balance enquiry or use the Cell C app

How do I cancel a recurring Data Bundle?
The customer can cancel or deactivate the recurring blackDATA Bundle at any point by:

  • contacting Customer Care on 084 140
  • Visiting the nearest Cell C store
There will be no refunds for cancellations. However, where a customer has a recurring bundle, the customer may request for future bundles to be cancelled.

Do I purchase a blackDATA if I migrate to another plan?
Customer who migrate to another qualifying plan will keep their blackDATA bundles. Please refer to the migration table below.

Can I purchased a blackDATA bundle even if I am not registered for black?

  • blackDATA bundles can only be added to Postpaid and TopUp lines that are active and not on accounts that are suspended or deactivated (due to non-payment)
  • Customers who have active blackDATA bundles and then are suspended will not be able to make use of this bundle until their account has been brought back up to date

What if my line is suspended? Can I still purchase or use a blackDATA bundle?

  • blackDATA bundles can only be added to Postpaid and TopUp lines that are active and not on accounts that are suspended or deactivated (due to non-payment)
  • Customers who have active blackDATA bundles and then are suspended will not be able to make use of this bundle until their account has been brought back up to date

I have reached my VML and would like to purchase a blackDATA bundle . How can I do this?
You will need to change your bill limit on your account. You can change your VML by Logging onto the Cell C portal at www.cellc.co.za or manage yor bill limit on the Cell C Mobile app.

What if I am roaming on Vodacom? Will my blackDATA bundle still work?
No. National roaming on Vodacom and international roaming usage is not allowed on the included blackDATA bundle data.

Can I use my blackDATA bundle for any other internet use such as WhatApp or Facebook?
No. blackDATA bundle data is for use on the black portal / app only. No other internet usage of any type will be allowed from the blackDATA bundle

  2. All standard Terms and Conditions of Cell C Limited and Cell C Service Provider Company Limited apply to the blackDATA bundles
  3. All prices and usage rates advertised include VAT, unless otherwise stated.

Applicability

  1. blackDATA bundles are available to Cell C customers on the following plans
    1. Connector;
    2. C-Fibre Connector;
    3. Pinnacle plans (Postpaid and TopUp);
    4. SmartData plans (Postpaid and TopUp);
    5. LTE-A plans;
    6. All Cell C prepaid plans.
  2. The blackDATA bundles are available to all customers (as listed) irrespective of whether they are registered for black BUT the data can only be used on the black platform to view. download or stream black content.

 

Activation

  1. blackDATA bundles are available as once-off and recurring options for selected Cell C prepaid and contract customers.
  2. The blackDATA bundle will be provisioned in full on successful purchases and will be immediately available for customers to use on black.
    1. There is no pro-ration of the blackDATA bundle.
  3. blackDATA bundles can only be added to Postpaid and TopUp lines that are active and not on accounts that are suspended or deactivated (due to non-payment).
    1. customers who have active blackDATA bundles and then are suspended will not be able to make use of this bundle until their account has been brought back up to date
  4. blackDATA bundles will be available for purchase to customers through the following channels:
    1. Cell C USSD;
    2. Cell C APP;
    3. Cell C Portal;
    4. Cell C Stores and Call Centre

Bundle Gifting

  1. Cell C customers will be able to purchase a blackDATA bundle to gift to other Cell C customers.
  2. The cost of the gifted bundle will be billed:
    1. From the available airtime of the customer that is gifting the bundle in the case of Prepaid and TopUp customers;
    2. To the bill of the customer that is gifting the bundle in the case of Postpaid customers; and
    3. To a customer’s credit / debit card where done as a recharge to another Cell C number.
  3. The list of beneficiaries for blackDATA bundle gifting will be shared with Data Bundles and will not be unique.
    1. A customer can always enter a Cell C MSISDN to gift a bundle to a number that is not listed as a recipient.

Exclusions

  1. blackDATA bundles are not transferable and cannot be converted to Rand value.
  2. Cell C customers on non-qualifying plans cannot purchase blackDATA bundles.
    1. These customers are able to migrate to one of our current plans in order to benefit from blackDATA bundles
  3. MVNO customers are excluded from purchasing blackDATA bundles.
  4. CST lines are excluded from purchasing blackDATA bundles.

 

Usage

  1. Data included in the blackDATA bundle is:
    1. Applicable for use on the Cell C network only (No National Roaming is allowed);
    2. International usage is not allowed;
    3. For use on the black portal / app only ( No other internet usage of any type will be allowed from the blackDATA bundle); and
    4. blackDATA bundles do not apply to usage on the “Bet”, “Play” and “Ticket” sections of the black platformwil be depleted in 25kb increments.
  2. All black usage will deplete from an active bundle while there is a positive balance and the bundle is active (i.e. has not expired).
  3. Once the blackDATA bundle has depleted or expired, any additional usage on black will be depleted from any other blackDATA resource available (e.g. off-peak download / Pinnacle or Connector inclusive blackDATA).
  4. Where no other blackDATA resource is available, the data will deplete from available Cell C Data resources or will be charged to bill (postpaid) or depleted from available airtime (prepaid and TopUp) AFTER the customer has “opted-in” for this.
  5. Where no black or Cell C data resource is available and the usage is billed as out of bundle usage (either to bill or from available airtime) this usage will be charged at 15c/MB.

 

Validity and Expiry

  1. All once-off and recurring blackDATA bundles (for Prepaid and TopUp) are valid for 30/90/180 days from the date of purchase (as per table above).
  2. Recurring blackDATA bundles on Postpaid are valid for calendar months. These will then be 1 calendar month / 3 calendar months or 6 calendar months.
  3. The full data volume of the bundle will be provisioned immediately on successful purchase.
  4. The bundle will expire on the 30th / 90th / 180th day at 23:59:59.
  5. There is no automatic rollover of unused data on once-off bundles.
  6. Customers can extend the validity of any remaining blackDATA volume by purchasing another blablackDATAndle before the expiry of the current bundle.
    1. The validity date of the new data and carried over data will be extended by the validity date of the new bundle that is purchased
    2. Where the validity period of the new bundle is less than the current expiry there will be no change in the expiry date
    3. For example, customer purchased a 50GB 180-day validity bundle on 1 November 2017. The bundle is valid until 29 April 2018. On 1 March the customer has 6GB of the 50GB remaining and purchases a 5GB blackDATA, bundle (30-day validity). The new total is 11GB and is valid until 29 April. In this case the current validity is longer than the validity of the newly purchased bundle, the validity is not extended further.
    4. Where the validity period of the new bundle is greater than the current expiry date the date will be extended as per the purchased bundle’s validity.
    5. For example, customer purchased a 50GB 180-day validity bundle on 1 November 2017. The bundle is valid until 29 April 2018. On 15 April the customer has 6GB of the 50GB remaining and purchases a 5GB blackDATA bundle (30-day validity). The new total is 11GB and is valid until 15 May 2018. In this case because the current validity is shorter than the validity of the newly purchased bundle, the validity will be extended by 30 days from the date of purchase.
  7. Unused data will automatically rollover for recurring bundle purchases, for as long as the recurring bundle is active

 

Notifications

  1. Notification will be sent out to customers via SMS:
    1. On successful purchase of a blackDATA bundle;
    2. At defined usage thresholds ;
    3. At 100% depletion of the bundle.

Cancellation

  1. Cancellation requests for recurring blackDATA bundles can be processed via The Cell C Call Center on 084140.
  2. Once-off blackDATA bundles cannot be cancelled. The bundle will expire at the expiry date.

Out of bundle rates for black will be charged at 15c/MB

 

Applicability

  1. All Cell C customers across all plans, once all-inclusive data has depleted
    1. Including C-Fibre Connector plans
  2. The flat rate is charged for usage on Cell C and on National roaming on Vodacom
  3. The flat rate does not apply to usage when roaming internationally, the advertised rate per MB for the country in question will be applied

Activation/Purchase

  1. There is no customer activation or purchase of this rate as it is the default rate for out of bundle black usage
  2. The rate applies to all Cell C customers and plans unless the plan has an out of bundle rate/MB lower than 15c/MB.
  3. The OOB rate will automatically be used as soon as there is no data resource or free airtime available and we are going to bill the usage to the customer’s bill or from their airtime.
  4. Customers will be informed before they incur out of bundle charges.
  5. Customers on the black web portal will be presented with a notification on screen. The web notification will recommend how much data is required to complete the current scheduled viewing.

 

 

 

General

  1. blackDATA may not and cannot be converted into Rand value.
  2. Upon expiry of the applicable validity periods, there shall be no carry-over of remaining blackDATA unless a further blackDATA bundle is purchased before such expiry.
  3. Cell C may amend, modify or otherwise change these terms and conditions in its sole and absolute discretion on notice to you, and the amended version will be displayed in the same media as these terms and conditions. By continuing to purchase and make use of the blackDATA bundles, you agree and understand that you will be bound by the amended terms and conditions.
  4. It is important that you understand that all customers who make use of the blackDATA bundles indemnify Cell C, its directors, affiliates, members, partners, employees, agents, consultants, suppliers, contractors and sponsors against any loss or damages, either direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from your use of the blackDATA bundles.
  5. Cell C reserves the right to suspend your use of the blackDATA bundles and its benefits in its sole discretion, including when any fraudulent activity is suspected, and if the outcome of an investigation proves that fraudulent activity did occur, Cell C shall be entitled to terminate your use of the blackDATA bundles and/or its benefits.
