Rolene Strauss is crowned Miss South Africa 2014

Rolene Strauss was born in the small town of Volksrus in the Freestate on 22 April 1992. She went on to study medicine at the University of the Freestate, where she completed her medical degree. Strauss was born to a nurse and doctor via rather unorthodox means which she claims has fueled her passion for health. By her own words, she quotes: "I'm a test tube baby and I believe my passion for health was born with me".

Rolene won the Miss South Africa pageant in 2014, after placing in the top three a few years before. She began her pageantry career at the age of fifteen when she won the Elite Model Look South Africa competition in 2007. After her Miss South Africa win she entered Miss World in the same year. She was expected to compete in both Miss Universe and Miss World that year, but since she had won the Miss Word title she was unable to compete for Miss Universe as well.

As Miss World she travelled to a large number of countries, which gave her the inspiration to start her own non-profit organisation, The Strauss Foundation. She is currently the chairperson of the foundation and has settled in Somerset West with her husband D'Niel and their son.
